Memory Lane Inn: The Digs

The crafting retreat took place at Memory Lane Inn in Tyler, Texas. (There is an alternate location in McKinney)  It was set in a charming house with a huge wrap around front porch, lots of chandeliers, stained glass doors (my fave!), and charming Victorian accents.  The house reminded me of one you would find in historic Fort Worth.

Each woman had their own twin bed complete with a basket full of fresh towels, Bath & Body Works toiletries, and a bag of Scrapbook freebies. The rooms slept anywhere from 2 - 8 women.

The front room was the crafting room.  There was an impressive DVD and CD collection, and iPod docking station, and streaming NetFlix to keep us entertained all weekend.

In the back room, there was a community "Cricut" (I got one of these for my birthday this year!) with a wall FULL of various cutting programs to choose from.  It is basically the die cut of the future :) I loved learning how to use it!

Each person had a their own work station complete with a cutting mat, lamp, and shelving. As you can see, my work station was packed full to the brim of scrap paper, sharpies, paints, brushes, glue, and my art journals.

We LOVED the charming ambiance of the whole place. Each mother/ daughter or friend duo signed up to bring a meal so the only other expense besides room & board, was the cost to feed the house 1 meal over the weekend.  There were 18 women that attended our retreat, so the house was packed full of creative minds!

You can visit the Memory Lane Inn website HERE to find out more details.  I highly recommend something like this for a big group of girlfriends who can never find time in their busy lives to catch up on all their crafting. It is best to come into the weekend with a few key projects and your supplies so you can knock them out.  We had 1 girl who pulled 2 all nighters... seriously!?!?! haha She was hardcore, but got everything she would normally want to accomplish in a year... accomplished in 1 long weekend!

I will post pics of our projects this week!

5 :)

On week's like these...it is good to laugh! So today's 5 smiles are all going to be cute and hopefully make you laugh!

1. Is this real life? I LOVE this video and I am sure you all have seen it...but its so cute.

2. Oh how technology has evolved...what will it be next?

3. This made me smile because I sometimes think that Logan's favorite place to be is in the bathroom.  He plays games on his phone, occasionally takes the computer, catches up on his reading, etc.  Maybe that was TMI, but I just envisioned our Mini Logan someday looking something like this... haha!

4. This gave me a chuckle. Haven't played that game in awhile but its great on road trips.

5. Looks like someone forgot to put on their sunscreen! haha I have had this image saved for a Thanksgiving post for months now, but I needed a laugh this week and thought I would share it early!

In other news:
  • Bromli & Bear are in town and I get to see them tonight! It is VERY rare that I get to see both of them so I am excited.  We have a clan going to Monica's which is always a good time!
  • I went on a double date w/ my Fossil besties Josh & Rob at RISE this week and we ran into none other than George W. Bush.  You can read about it HERE.
  • Operation Beach Body is in full effect. Logan and I have been working out at the YMCA almost every night after work! Swimsuit season here we come :)
  • I had Neimans 30/30 this past weekend and we got Logan some HOT Ray Bans. I love a man in Ray Bans...
  • My sister is back from Costa Rica!!! I have missed her and finally get to see her this weekend and hear all about her trip.
  • I will for sure post Scrapbooking Retreat images next week. It was a really unique experience!

Kerri and Landon's Fiesta Shower

Landon and Kerri's shower turned out SO cute! We did a fiesta theme and had tacos, quesadillas, and margaritas.  Ashley came up with the cute idea of printed plastic cups that called out "The Webbing" since they will be the Webbs after July 30th AND Lindsay found a girl who made margarita cupcakes! They were complete with baby straws, limes, and made with tequila ;) They were VERY yummy and pretty!

Logan was a TROOPER... he had some serious allergies during the shower... IMG_1068
But he rallied and still had a smile on his face :) I love him!

Need a breather...

THIS pretty much describes how I am feeling right now.

I am a bit overwhelmed, exhausted, tired, and stressed... It has been a busy last 10 days... in fact, I have only had 1 night off in that stretch... which causes me to end up like this.

It's funny because I used to be so energized by being busy and around people all the time and now I relish in quiet nights at home to unwind.  Sadly, MOST of Logan's best friends have moved away in the past year so he rarely has plans and I always seem to have something pop up.  I had a big talk with him last night on the way to the Rangers game saying that we (more I) have GOT to learn when and how to say "no." I need to set some time aside for myself for my emotional and mental stability (that sounds dramatic, but it really does my soul some justice) - Logan is just so different because he could go a straight month with plans every night and love every second of it... so if him and I could trade schedules, we decided we would be set! In fact, last week he had 4 nights at home to relax, watch TV, play guitar, etc. and I was busy at work dinners and out of town at a retreat.

TONIGHT, we finally get a night at home together.  We are going to go to the YMCA, cook dinner, and watch The Voice ... I have never been an American Idol follower, but something about The Voice (um... or Adam Levine) just does it for me! This is the perfect Rx for me today.

Lots of changes coming down the pipeline that I cannot wait to share with you all in a few weeks!

Mrs. Frenchy

5 :)

1. I am headed HERE this weekend with my mom.  I will blog all about it next week! A craft weekend getaway? Um, yes please!

2. I get to work on more of THIS project I started last spring. It has been hard to find time to squeeze it in...but I have 2 full days of creativity ahead of me... I will make sure to post some new pages in the next few weeks.

3. Throwing a couples shower for my stepbrother and soon to be sis-in-law (Kerri & Landon) this weekend. Aren't they HOTT?  (yes I meant to put 2 T's b/c they are that good looking)

4. Celebrating him on Sunday. Happy Father's Day DAD!!!

5. WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wore my blue & white to work and watched the live stream of the parade and ceremony from my air conditioned office in Downtown Dallas. SO SO proud :)

*I also feel the need to point out that although we were NOT at the playoff games... we DID see the National Champs beat the Phoenix Suns in DECEMBER for Logan's birthday.  Pretty cool that we "partied with the Mavs" on their National Champ Season!

What are you doing this weekend? Any fun plans?

Laine & Lindsay's Baby Shower

We had a GREAT time hosting Lindsay's baby shower.  She is due at the end of this month with Baby Laine Zindel :) We cannot wait to meet her!

For the shower we had lots of good food, bright colored poms, adorable themed "sippy cups," maternity magnets as favors, a clothesline full of Laine's new wardrobe, and lots of presents :) The hostesses all pitched in to get Lindsay her stroller and she was so surprised!  We also had each girl bring a children's book in addition to their gift, to start "Laine's library" - it was a cute touch and Lindsay went home with a basket FULL of fun books for bedtime stories.

Side note: Logan was VERY overwhelmed by Buy Buy Baby and it further proved we are maybe not quite ready for parenthood... And he thought Bed, Bath, & Beyond was overwhelming... ha!
